You’d think after nearly two years of being a mom I should know better by now than to expect anything to go as planned. And yet… *sigh* But despite the fact that we only made it through one of the Fourth of July crafts I had planned, I’m still going to share some easy red white and blue DIYs to celebrate the holiday!
The image on the right is Elsie’s creation. The first image is (obviously) what we were going for, though I was trying to do a bit more than a solid paint color on the hand. If you look closely at the pictures below, you’ll see a blue palm with red and white fingers for her handprint.
I was actually really excited to do this one because I haven’t done a handprint related project with Elsie for about six months, and it’s always really cool as a parent to go back and look at how much growth has occurred over time. I have handprints and footprints from Mother’s Day 2018, and a handprint piece I did with Elsie in January 2019. While planning Fourth of July crafts, it seemed like a good time get a new handprint project.
She insisted on smearing the colors together. Using multiple brushes and her hands, she managed to do some belly painting too. Despite not turning out as I had hoped, she had a lot of fun. And in the end, that’s all that matters anyway.
