Behind The Scenes: My Workspace

As a blogger one of my guilty pleasures is looking at photos of other bloggers’ offices and workshops.

I could spend – have spent – hours on Pinterest scrolling through different workspaces, imagining what my workspace could someday look like. Because honestly, nothing makes me feel more ready to be productive than an organized af office.

Before

Please tell me I’m not the only one who drools over perfectly faced paint bottles on shelves or a clutter-free desktop?!

While I do have a workspace I can call my own at home, it tends to get a little cramped. I mean, a 9′ x 5′ storage room (water heater included) is hardly a real office, ya know? I’m thankful to have it, small though it may be, but I still dream of a more open space where I have room to spread my wings a bit.

I also tend to be a bit of a shopaholic. And that doesn’t really help when it comes to keeping my workspace decluttered. Thankfully we are doing a No Spend Month right now, so I made it a goal to clean up my workspace a bit.

Living Room Nook

As you might be able to see in the Before photo, my letter board still has “January” up. It’s literally been half a year since I have even sat in my office to work on a project! I haven’t touched my Cricut since then, which is pretty sad honestly.

I’ve reorganized my tiny room to make it feel a bit more cozy, and plan to start working in there again.

Something that really keeps me from working in my office is the fact that the desk is always so cluttered. I often work on my laptop, and feel like I just don’t have the space I need to get everything set up. Instead of using my workspace, I ended up setting up in the little nook in my living room.

Since S moved in though, I don’t really like leaving my clutter all over the table. I feel like it’s kinda shitty to inhabit so much of the shared living space with just my things. So I’m trying to reign it in a bit and relocate back to my office.

Last weekend I finally had a couple of days off to reorganize, and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out.

After

It’s nothing fancy, but it’s where the magic happens! Or at least where it is going to happen in the future, lol. I even set up my Cricut press so I can get some shirts made. (Making shirts was one of my big goals for this summer!) Don’t be surprised if you see some #fail posts about my Cricut mishaps in the coming months.

One thing I really love about my workspace is the small shelving unit that sits on top of my desk. I got it at Goodwill a few years back, and it has been a perfect place to store my Cricut while keeping my desktop open!

And I’ll admit, though my cork board is currently empty, I find it to be one of the most useful things in any office. I can pin up inspirational photos or quotes, or just use it to plan out ideas and keep track of small notes. I’m excited to start turning it into an idea board. I love Post-Its, so I’m sure it won’t take long to fill up.

My desk is ALWAYS a mess! LOL Somehow it never seems to stay “picked up” for more than a day or two. Congrats on getting your space organized…it looks great!
